- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup rice, rinsed
- 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
- Brown beef in a large pot over medium/high heat.
- While the beef is browning, add all the spices.
- Once the beef is well browned, add the rice and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
- Add the broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed, approximately 20 minutes.
For the almond topping:
Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the almonds and cook, stirring constantly until the almonds and butter are browned.
Pour the rice onto a serving platter and top with the toasted almonds.
